WisCon starts in a week. What do you need to know? What do you want to know? Got any last-minute info to pass along?

Weather -- It will most likely be warm, over 70'F during the day (about 25'C) and in the 50s (low teens, 'C) at night. Spring arrived a couple of months early this year, so expect to find June blooms and their allergens (for example ( Read more... )

Badger Coaches just changed their daily bus schedule from Milwaukee's Mitchell Airport (MKE) to Madison. Use the interactive schedule on their site, NOT the .pdf!

The last bus from MKE is 9:45 p.m. on some days and 9:05 p.m. on others. (According to the .pdf, the last bus used to leave at 10 p.m.)

How late at night will the Concourse shuttle pick up hotel guests from the airport?

And thanks for this thread

And I have an answer to my own question, but others may have that question, too. The shuttle's last scheduled run is at 11 pm, but the Concourse encourages people who arrive a bit later than that to go ahead and call the hotel before catching a taxi, because sometimes they are able to pick up late arrivals, sometimes not.

The last public bus from the airport leaves at 10:46 pm, a few minutes before my plane lands, so I guess I won't take that. For others who want to use public transportation, there's a reasonably good trip planner at http://trip.cityofmadison.com/. We used it a few years ago to figure out how to get to and from the laundromat when our Wiscon trip came at the end of three weeks of travelling.

Google Maps also does public transit directions for Madison now, and I've found them to be pretty reliable. I also use the bus radar app mentioned here to check where buses actually are, especially during rush hour; it's usually accurate within +/- 2 minutes.

It is also worth remembering that the Farmers' Market around the capitol is on Saturday until 2:00 PM, so buses will be detouring to avoid that. I do not actually know which online resources reliably account for detours.

The wiscon.info page on the Van Galder buses needs updating. I believe it's 29$ one-way and they also go to Chicago Midway.

Any construction or delays or such on 94? I fly into Milwaukee on Friday morning and plan to drive to Madison.

Does anyone know if the Van Galder bus runs a regular Monday schedule on Monday or if I should be looking at Saturday or Sunday? (since it's a holiday)
