May I ask, in a non-pressured way, what you and your hub get for an 'allowance' each week? My hub and I are trying to work one out for us, and we seek input from others who are managing to do it. I really don't want to pay for my scrapbooking materials with our joint account, etc. etc.

$50/week, which covers hobbies, books, clothes, and discretionary eating-out.

If it didn't extend to clothes, it would probably be outrageous, but since I have to dress like a professional, it's pretty reasonable.

Bra: $65
Undies: $10/3-pack
Slacks: $30
Socks: Hand-knit! ($14 of yarn, which I usually count as entertainment)
Shoes: $63

Nordstrom is where I buy the ones I have now. But I am getting to the place where they look grave and suggest specialty shops.

It's not that I mind paying, precisely, it's that I am very demanding about performance and fit.
