acording to the thermometer I got free with my gas bill - it's currently 13 degrees C under my desk

I'm gonna go put the heating on.

Maybe we just need some kind of giant pipe around the world, and you can have some of our hot air, and we'll take some of your ice?

I have been in that temperature once, in Death Valley, and it was like all the bad things in the world went away. Maybe I should actually consider looking for jobs in Aus...

Though helpfully, I bet my supervisor is really hating it, having gone to Melbourne for three months right when I am writing up and could really use him being around. Buwahahaha.

I'm with you - I'm melting! Although my aircon at home is doing a stellar job... It's 32 now and only 8:30!

What's the Australian equivelent of a snow day? ie when it's too hot to go to work rather than you're snowed in? I see that Connex takes heat days, why can't we!

I'd like to know that too! I think my brain almost melted inside my motorcycle helmet..

at least you HAVE a poor little air conditioner... i have a fan. that sort of moves hot hair around in an inefficient sort of a way.

maybe i'll move in under my desk for a few days

Only a fan here toooo. And it blows hot air. Because it's crappy and heats up instantly when you put it on. O_O

Then I suggest both of you invest in a little air conditioner ASAP!
When it gets this hot, it suddenly seems worth every dollar. (About 400 of them in total, when I bought it a year and a bit ago)

Of course 340 days of the year it sits idle :/

hmm... maybe
i am a freak and don't believe it's really all that hot unless it's over about 38 so i don't know it'd really be great value for the money

well that and i currently have 90c in my bank account as i just spent another $5k on shares. poo.

Good! They had a river to go swimming in :-)

(It rained a bit on Friday, & uon & I got v pissed off, in "oh god even in *Australia* in *January* we are going to get rivers of mud" fashion. No one else seemed remotely worried. This was, of course, because there were no rivers of mud; the sun came back out Saturday morning & stayed there. I was chatting to a stallholder who said something about how nice it had been to have a few cloudy hours. I think perhaps doop's & my trained reactions to clouds are a bit different to folk over here...)

Anyway! Good music, lovely site (gumtrees are so pretty!), really impressed by how tidy the place stayed. Bit weird to have so many cars etc there, and so much space around the site.

How was Rainbow Serpent?

It's quite common for people to camp with their cars at Aussie festivals - it is rather handy, they make great things for to attach tarpaulins and shade-cloth :)

Rainbow Serpent was good.. no rivers, sadly, and it was pretty hot during the day, and freezing overnight! I had fun though..

It's a lot bigger than I remember.. last time i went (ages ago) it was about 2500 people, now it's almost 10,000!
