Dramatic and well told :D We know that Sage is prone to heroics that get in trouble, and we also learn that Brayden is a laid-back, laconic type; reliable and decent but not much for words of warm comfort :D

My only nitpick is 'Would have it of killed him' - Would it have killed him reads better; I'm guessing this is one of those sentences that got reworded a few times and the word order got skewed. I know that scenario well :D
