AUTHORS NOTE: Sergio in goal? This had to be written!
It was a little extreme, even for him, but despite the severity of his actions Sergio couldn’t help the sigh of relief that escaped his lips when Fernando opened the door. “Oh thank god, you’re home.”
“Sergio?” Fernando asked bewildered and more than a little confused to see him on his doorstep, “what in the world are you...”
Sergio held out a soccer ball abruptly and cut him off. “I need you to kick this at me a couple of times.”
Fernando blinked and dropped his eyes to the soccer ball curiously before returning them to Sergio and asking calmly, “Are you drunk?”
Sergio rolled his eyes and dropped his hand, “no. I wish. I just found out that Mourinho named me third goal keeper.”
Fernando’s eyebrows shot up and he smirked amused. “Seriously? Sergio, you suck in goal.”
Sergio frowned and crossed his arms defensively, “I do not.”
Fernando opened his mouth to retaliate but Sergio cut him off. “Anytime I was in goal under the age of fifteen does not count.”
Fernando smirked, “you haven’t been in goal since you were fifteen.”
“Exactly, so my slate is clean.” Sergio sighed, “Look, I have to start doing a certain amount of training with the keepers each week and I don’t want to embarrass myself. You’re the only person I know that will help me without rolling on the ground laughing at how spastic I am.”
Fernando who could already feel himself start to smile at the mere thought of Sergio flying through the air wiped his face clear of amusement. “You’re serious about this?”
“Yes.”
“Sergio,” Fernando reasoned, “you know the chances of Iker and Dudek both being unable to play is slim to none.”
“I know that, but in the slight chance that I do end up in that goal, I don’t want to make a fool of myself. So please, please just help me out with this.”
Fernando relented and snatched the ball from Sergio’s hands, “alright let’s do this.”
