I finally managed to watch Doctor Who: The Christmas Invasion last night, and not terribly surprisingly, I'm ecstatic! While I was waiting at Albany International Airport for my flight back home from Christmas, I watched the first ten-fifteen minutes on my laptop, and I was laughing like a crazy person. Behind the cut are my impressions with ( Read more... )

Oh, I am so glad that you enjoyed it. When I started, I didn't plan to transcribe as much as I did, but there are so many funny and touching lines and moments, that I couldn't help myself! I hope that you will eventually be able to see it, because it's wonderful. There's no way I can describe DT's performance, which was a joy, or Rose's heartbreak which was palpable, or a myriad of other things...but this was my attempt to do a little.

I'm glad to hear that DT is such a great Doctor.

He is, he really is. And I say this as someone who loved Chris Eccleston's Doctor so very much. I was so heartbroken when he "died." In a way, I'm really glad for the gift of time between the end of CE's Doctor and the beginning of DT's Doctor - it gave me time to get used to the idea, and also to get excited about something new again.

Of course I can't read your review as I haven't seen it yet, and won't for another few days, but holy moley - did you copy/paste the full dialogue/script here my friend?

Yipes!

Can't wait to see it though - just finished the lovely mag you sent up (thanks again) and my brother gave me an extra copy that he was sent of Doctor Who Magazine, the special Series 2 preview with tons of great things to get my mouth watering for S2 - Cybermen & Sarah Jane! :)

I didn't copy/paste nuthin' - that's all MY transcription, my friend. Rather painstakingly done, I might add! :) I so wish I could watch it with captioning.

When you watch, let me know what you think!

I haven't watched the new Dr Who yet - I only have 2 episodes downloaded and was debating whether to get the rest given that I will now always associate him as Barty Crouch Jr but now I think I will continue because your description makes it sound fabulous!!! :D

Thanks!

Well, the first (new) series was with Chris Eccleston, who is also amazingly fabulous. I hadn't cried so much over a tv show in many years the way I cried over ep 13 of the "new Who" - and we were all worried how DT would work out in the role. I think he's wonderful - manic as Chris but different.

I really recommend the show - as I said up there, even when things are contrived or the SFX aren't the greatest, or anything like that, the writing is strong, the characterization is bloody wonderful, and these writers and actors make you love them so hard. I'm so glad they brought it back. If you ever do watch, I'd love to know what you think, good or bad.
