This is very sad news. :( "Restrepo" is on my "to watch" list, and I have heard very positive things both about the documentary and the creators. Like you say in your very eloquent eulogy, people like Tim Hetherington deserve all our admiration and respect for the dangers they expose themselves to in order to bring to us a truer picture of the world and the events happening in it. The world will definitely be poorer without him!

When I heard him speak, he was such a vibrant, strong, charismatic and compassionate person - all day I've had to pinch myself and remind myself that he's gone, really gone, which hardly seems possible. *weeps* That he should survive so many awful, violent, horrible situations to die yesterday from shrapnel. What comforts me is the ENORMOUS wave of people out there who are writing and posting and remembering him and Chris Hondros, and the people who might be discovering them and their work for the first time. They and their immense contributions won't be forgotten.

*Tears* Thank you for the beautiful thoughts and reflection on a amazing man. It has inspired me also to seek out his work I was not familiar with as well. I will be emailing you to catch up and we must make time to talk soon. I love you so. Hugs to Nicola. XOXO
