Oh, man, there are so many awesome Supernatural vids out there, but it's hard for me to just rec some to you, because of that spoiler thing. I'll try to hunt some down for you, though, because you're you. I'll also check check out my SPN fic memories and rec a few fics for you that aren't from the later seasons.

As for True Blood, it's my new obsession. I've posted one fic and one vid and have more of each in the works. I love the show as much as the books and vice versa, but, again, I'd have to read through things again in regard to book spoilers, if you haven't read the books. If you've seen both seasons, then I can totally rec you some vids, though...

Awww! You are TOO TOO kind! I should have said it more clearly, but you can rec me anything, and I'll happily accept the recs for later. I'm going through these eps just as fast as I possibly can... :D If you do have spoiler warnings, that's awesome, but if not, I'll just wait to watch until I'm all caught up.

Re: True Blood - I am definitely going to check out your fic and vid! I haven't read the books, but I don't mind spoilers for them. And yes, I've seen both seasons of TB, so any recs you want to pass on will be awesome.

Thank you so much, honey! ♥

I want to *flail* hardcore right now, because I have been an absolute GONER on SPN since I randomly began watching the hubsters SPN dvd's several weeks ago, and I think my flist thinks I've gone mad! *face palms*. I so didn't think SPN was my cup of tea, but oh dear. Once I started watching I could not stop. I think I spent about a week parked infront of the telly watching every single episode of every single series. I actually resented having to go to work and do things socially, because erm...I just wanted to watch and watch. Am SO HAPPY someone else on my flist likes it too ( ... )

We're totally on the same wavelength - I also haven't loved any TV characters as much as I love the Winchesters in ages, probably since the X-Files! I don't know how many times I've re-watched the show, I just can't ever get enough of it.

I agree with you, the writing in this fandom is simply AWESOME! And I've never been a fan of RPS before, but so many of the Jsquared stories I've read were fantastic. I'm still devouring fanfic, and there's still so much left to discover. It's pure bliss.

The SPN universe is just so diverse, there's so much to explore in fiction, it's heaven for authors and readers alike. :D

Hee, I know what you were getting at with this, but I couldn't help thinking of JE and giggling all the same... ;)

LOL, if you put it like this, I realize my mistake - I should have written "AU RPS"! A lot, if not most, of the RPS written in Supernatural fandom is totally AU, and I used to dislike that before. You know, NEWS as salarymen, or KAT-TUN in a samurai setting. I never read those stories. But I love what's written about Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. There are some truly wonderful stories out there!

I forgot to say that I completely agree with you with regards to the soundtrack on SPN. Every song they use just fits so wonderfully. The use of music in this series is wonderful.

Eeee, yes, the music is utterly grin-worthy and makes me so happy! I have been happily pulling out CDs I haven't listened to in a long time...

I must say, my thinking about "Tue Blood" are not quite the same as yours - I have never seen an emptier or trashier or cheesier (Korean dramas included) show in my life and kill me dead I don't see any other complexity than clever understanding of "what public likes", but somewhat some parts of it are amusing (in OMPH! I am glad my friends at work don't know I am watching this! kind of way) and some parts are truly good (like Eric and Godrick). I mostly keep watching it for Eric. A.Skarsgard is so good I will watch anything with him.

And YAY! I also have a big place in my heart for brothers Winchester. It appeals me on emotional and aesthetic :D level very much.

Hee, yes, I remember reading something on your LJ that you weren't too impressed with TB, and I have to say that the mixed reaction on my flist nearly predisposed me to dislike it - certainly I didn't bother to pick it up until late this summer. So I was very surprised to discover that not only did I like it, but that I came to love the drama. While I adore Alexander Skarsgard, and I love his portrayal of Eric, he's definitely not the main reason I kept watching it (and I still like his Brad Colbert a bit better) - which is why I wasn't as upset as some fans were when he only got five minutes or so in the final ep of S2 ( ... )

I'm frankly thrilled at the way the show keeps relentlessly hammering at the idea of redemption and family at every turn, or the way it tricks you into thinking you're only watching cartoonish religious vampire-hating bigots attempt a massacre or demi-god-bespelled townsfolk engage in orgies when I think we're really being schooled in the far reaches of fanaticism and religious ecstasy, and in thin dividing lines. You see, these two things are among things that I personally find very "bad taste" and trashy in "True blood" (but this is of course, my own understanding). The family values are a fine theme by itself, but when taken to cheesy extremes like in "True Blood" this gives me a feel similar to when eating too much sugar and being nauseous ( ... )

(I mean, what did you think was cheesy?) I ask only because I wonder if we're talking about the same thing. To me, the theme of "family" is not strictly the idea of (for example) Sookie, Jason and their grandmother and how they love each other, but I mean the way that family units spring up all over the place - not just the natural biological families, but rather created families, chosen families. For example, Sookie is more Tara's family than her mother ever was, but Tara is still lost and floundering (and cast out by her own mother), so when Maryann comes along, Tara is so hungry for the comfort that she offers, that Tara jumps into that new family with its illusion of safety and normalcy. Another really good example is the way that Sam Merlotte finds himself in the midst ( ... )

I want to jump up and down for joy right now, because I'm such a Supernatural fanatic. :D I'd love to rec you fanfic, I've devoured hundreds of stories until now. Do you have any conditions? Like, no incest, no stories when they're very young, no AU or something like that?

A good place to start is the SPN big bang community, I think, since the big bang challenges are sorted by year and you can avoid spoilers this way. Here's the link to the 2007 master list of fic, which includes gen, slash and rps, and should be fine to read if you're halfway through season 3. If you'd like a more concrete rec for those stories, in gen fic I liked clex_monkie89's story " This is ourselves (under pressure)".

I'm planning on writing an extensive fic rec list, sorted by genre, in the near future!

Rec anything you like, my darling, and I'll certainly check it out - if I don't like it, I'll move on. :) You know me, the quality of the writing and how compelling the story is, is more important to me than genre. ♥

Thank you so much for mentioning the big bang comm - I'll give that a shot.

*twirls you around* It feels good to fall into another fandom! (not that I need a new one, but new ones always seem to find me!) I look forward to your fic rec list! *hugs*
