I had planned to see that documentary, but then I forgot to record it, so. I heard it was very good - if you haven't yet, check out the Washington Post's discussion with the filmmakers.
As with everything we consume, I think it's more important than ever to be mindful of where it comes from, how it's processed, and how it gets to us.
I do recommend seeing it, it was very well done and informative.
And thank you as well for the Washington Post link, I think I'll find it very helpful & educational! So glad the farmer's market has near Foggy Bottom opened up again for the season.
If you're ever in need of inspiration, you may want to check out Kim O'Donnell at the Washington Post - she hosts a weekly discussion (there's a link there to her archives, too) as well as a blog. She's a big fan of farmer's markets, and often discusses locally-grown produce, healthy eating, among lots of other things. Also, for variety in your farmer's markets, the Post annually publishes a guide to all the local farmer's markets which I always find very useful. I'm not sure if the 2008 guide has come out yet, though.
