Sometimes I miss skippyness so much that I can't stand it. Australia is too far away. *sigh*

Ah, it's a pity that, after our discussion of shoegaze, that this is the first thing I show you of Marillion. ;) I should show you a more lively tune, because this one is very quiet and stationary. Also, they're a lot older now, so H (singer) doesn't move around as much as he used to. The first time I ever saw him perform, he climbed a ridiculously tall amp stack during the encore which was rather scary to watch! (Baltimore, 1992)

What surprised me was how attentive the crowd was even though there wasn't much movement, like if you culled the 500 serious listeners from an arena tour and packed them into one room. This is fairly typical for Marillion shows - some of their music is very loud and lively, and some of it is very quiet and thoughtful, and Marillion fans tend to be very intense in their attention. Which can come across as super-insidery for non-fans. I once took a couple non-fans to a show and I think they were a bit put-off by the intensity of the audience (who knew all the lyrics, etc ( ... )

Awww, thank you, sweetie. I was just re-reading a recent email from my friend which made me cry, and that's why I posted this. N and I were talking about this last night - we love our friends (you guys included OF COURSE) so much and it would be so wonderful if we all lived in the same city so we could go out for dinner or drinks or a film or a walk or whatever. Visiting is awesome, being visited is awesome...but it just can't replace that regular interaction that living in proximity affords. As ina told me not too long ago: the world is just too big sometimes!

XOXOXO (and Pssst, I think you can buy the DVD that this video comes from!) :D
