First: a belated happy birthday to miyamiaki! I hope it was a wonderful, wonderful day, and that all good things come your way in the year ahead. *hugs*
Loreena is all kinds of fab if you like eclectic celtic-inspired world music. :)
It's a pretty interesting experiment, particularly because it sort of showcases how in the digital age, artists are becoming more and more capable of breaking away from establishment-type institutions, and I'm all for artistic freedom.
I'm all for artistic freedom, too. And I'll be the first to admit being thrilled if we move away from record companies monopolizing the music scene. After all, my fave band, Marillion has been completely independent of any record company since their 1999 album and they have released three studio albums since then in cooperation with their fanbase. This article explains more about their evolution and business strategies as an independent band. Other bands like Mute Math are running a grassroots internet campaign and have been touring heavily in order to grow a fanbase that will allow them to continue as artists and musicians. There are all sorts of new opportunities available now, particularly as bands can be intimately

I half viewed this as an experiment not only to see if it stops people downloading illegally, but also to see what price people who legitimately buy music and support the artists they love think is a reasonable price to pay for a CD. I never saw it as Radiohead giving away their album. XD To me, it's demand and supply, the consumers' willingness to pay, and substitution towards better alternatives; all that fun economic stuff. :P I'm not trying to knock what Radiohead has done, because I think it's a strategy that definitely has merit, particularly in what you describe above: to find out how far people will go to pirate music - and the bizblast article is disheartening when you think that people could download it for nothing, and yet it continues to be pirated quite a lot - AND what value they place on music. Which was my point: when I read a lot of "free" and "giving away" that means that those people have placed a value on the music and that value is nothing at all

Oh, I hope that it won't be ten years before her next album, but I don't think it will be less than three years, and probably five.
Toma was sooo much fun in HanaKimi! I miss Nakatsu so much already - his miming and voiceovers were hilarious! He has a marvelously flexible and expressive face! :) In the end, the drama was heartwarming. I'm so glad I don't know the manga or the twdrama, or I'm sure I'd be disappointed like those fans seem to be.
Hotaru no Hikari is rapidly becoming one of my favourite dramas. It's so great :( I didn't know the subs for ep. 9 were out!!! Going to download it now :)
While I was watching episode 9, I was also thinking that I love the drama so much - I definitely love it more than HanaKimi, for example, and I think it might be my favorite of the season! I think it's partly my affection for Ayase who is so thoroughly charming and adorable. I constantly want to pinch her cheeks or give her a hug - and Fujiki has also made me love his character so much, too.
You're welcome! I really wish I could gather all of my fellow LM fans together for one giant group hug of a concert - it's always nicer to experience such things with like-minded folks. :)
