Media update: Books & Film

First, two things: I am FINALLY going to see Stardust tonight! *glee* I can't wait. And second, has anyone else read Karin Muller's book Japanland? I'm nearly done with it and when I'm done, I'd love to talk to anyone else who's read it.

Have a nice weekend, everyone!

Hee~that's one of the things I love about LJ...because of other people posting about things I've never heard of before, I've discovered all sorts of interests, like j-pop and Asian dramas, that I never would have imagined. :)

The short review on Stardust: it was fantastic. By the end of the film I was crying tears of happiness at how good it was. :)

I am such a sucker for those fight scenes and international locations. :)

    Me, too! :D

I've never seen any of the other Bourne films (but I will soon! I'm being a cheat and I downloaded the first two because I was worried I won't be able to understand the third), but yes, "a wild ride" seems just the few words to describe it. Sheesh, everything happened to fast in the movie, you really cannot stop to think about it.

I'm hoping they'll make a fourth movie (even though I haven't seen the first two just yet to judge).

The first film is one of those really near-perfect action films where it has all the right action, and amazingly good writing. I mean, Jason Bourne is actually more than a caricature! The romance is perfect and understated and I loved how European it felt. it felt right, not like "Hollywood does Europe."

No, I haven't seen Hot Fuzz yet, but it's coming up in the Netflix queue, so probably we'll be watching it sometime in the next few weeks! I've heard many good things about it. :)

I honestly can't remember if I've ever deliberately watched a single zombie film! (so I'm not counting the snatches of things seen while flipping channels) But I'd heard that this one was full of tongue-in-cheek goodness, and N loved it, so I was more than persuaded. I love films that sort of explode genre like this one does.

And as I just told lage_nom_ai, Hot Fuzz is in my Netflix queue, so I'll be watching it relatively soon - and I'm definitely looking forward to it. :)
