I've seen the USB sushi things before, but they continue to amuse me. I'm not very fond of sushi, but I should really get my sister one.
My favorite desserts:
my oatmeal cookies (that I mix all kinds of different things into) tac (a Czech pastry, which is basically yeast dough with fruit and sugar on top) my mom's apple cake fruit tarts poppy seed or walnut hamentaschen (filled cookie things)
My family has kind of spoiled me for baked goods that aren't homemade (or at least made in a good restaurant/bakery). It's kind of sad, really.
The sushi USB things cracked me up, although I wouldn't find them useful because I like my small, discreet USB memory sticks that fit in every handbag.
Yum, I love your list! I especially love really good hamentaschen, and I totally forgot to include fruit tarts on my list! I have a killer recipe for slightly-sweet pastry crust (the kind you make in a fluted edge tart pan) for my mixed fruit tart, but I also like those old-fashioned folded-crust tarts.
+ mochi (particularly covered in kinako (soybean flour))--> fresh strawberry mochi is to die for *grin* + doriyaki + momiji manjuu (manjuu in the shape of maple leaves, a Hiroshima speciality) + besan ladoo + barfi + cranberry scones
As you can tell, I'm very cultural about my sweets and I also prefer mild sweets to strong ones; jelabi gets to me after like five bites. *giggle*
I usually prefer salty foods to sweet ones, but I do get the occasionally sugar craving. Some favorites: egg tarts and portuguese-style egg tarts, taro milk tea with tapioca, and shaved ice with honey and aloe.
I do eat non-Chinese desserts, really. I just can't think of any particular favorites right now. :D
♥i also vote for homemade gingerbread. ♥domyouji, a kind of japanese dessert made with sakura blossoms and probably rice flour and wrapped in a leaf. ♥ probably anything with coffee in it ♥ hot red-bean soup. ♥ chocolate--the darker the better ♥ icecream
Usually I don't really do sweets, but every once in a while, it's just the perfect thing.
