For many sadly valid reasons, I didn't go see her this tour, though I adored her when I saw her a few years ago, but you're the second person to post a glowing review today, and now I'm feeling very regretful. I'm so glad you enjoyed the show.

I understand - it's always tough when we have to prioritize things and miss out on events we know we'll enjoy. Hopefully there will be another opportunity for you to see her. I really hope so! :)

Wonderful to see you back lovie! What a wonderful experience to see Loreena McKennitt live. I have yet to have the pleasure. Gorgeous pics by the way. I should look to see if she is coming anywhere around me. Hope you are feeling wonderful and that Nicola is doing well.

Thank you so much sweetie! I hope someday you will get a chance to see Loreena - I think you would love her performance.

Sadly, I feel awful today, as allergies are being a snot, but reading your message is definitely a cheering thing! *hugs you*

Much love as always, darling. :) I hope you and M are well, too!

i've loved loreena mckinnett since michelle kwan skated an absolutely breathtaking routine to "dante's prayer" in 1996 or 1997...if you haven't seen it, i'd be happy to point you to some links on youtube! i'm so glad that you were able to see her perform live..it must've been absolutely magical! ♥

Oh, it really was magical to see Loreena perform live - she works hard to create a very profound and intimate experience that is truly something special. I hope one day, you can see for yourself!

In fact, I do have some recollection of Michelle Kwan skating to LM, and I was thrilled that perhaps that might introduce her music to a wider audience. "Dante's Prayer" is such a heartfelt and gorgeous song, too.

Ooh! This looks amazing. I'm especially envious of the guitar/fiddle conversation as you call it. That's the sort of thing that separates live performances from study recordings.

Thank you so much for posting this! :D

You're welcome! This is the thing that is very special about a Loreena McKennitt performance - her studio music is wonderful, but live, she and her musicians really shine. I always especially love how she lets Brian Hughes rip out on electric guitar - his solo work at the end of "The Bonny Swans" (along wtih Hugh Marsh's fiddle) is always swoonworthy for a guitar-girl like me. LM is the only folk/Celtic artist I know who perfectly satisfies my rock music sensibilities while still providing gorgeous ethereal sounds.

Thank you for the detailed concert review & gorgeous screencaps of Loreena McKennitt's latest DVD! *screams* hahahah! She looks graceful & the atmosphere from the setting & lighting looks just right! ^^

I'm so glad you had a magical evening (*^▽^*) (just as we predicted ^_- It's far from a surprise though as Loreena McKennitt is all about magic! ^^). & awesome that at the end of the show, your friend became a fan as well!

"Loreena's show is both erudite and emotional, and her performance along with the band alternates between energetic/exciting/dramatic/upbeat and meditative/harmonious/serene/thoughtful."

It sounds so lovely! & a live show is even more a treat when almost all the songs performed are your favs! ^^

& yes, having every single person you've ever introduced to Loreena McKennitt liking her is a pretty good success rate, lol! It's interesting & makes me wonder because after my attempts...I came back with zero converts (T_T) LOL!!! It's generally because the music was too foreign to them & although they did mention ( ... )

You're very welcome! I'm glad you liked the post! :)

Maybe I've just been lucky in the people I've shared her music with - she's a very diverse, eclectic artist, and fortunately, many of my friends have similar taste in music.

Isn't it great that we can find so many other like-minded people online? I love it! My circle of LM-fan friends keeps expanding, thanks to LJ. ♥
