alexandral has recently watched Letters from Iwo Jima, a film which I wrote about here.

Hmm, I haven't gotten around to seeing that movie yet myself, but I will soon though. (I said I would see a while ago, but that didn't happen :(. Now I really will though.) It should be taken into considration that it's a Clint Eastwood film, so it's not 100% japanese. And besides, if they wanted to make the movie more realistic, I think it's a good thing the acting is not alot of exagerated expressions and such.

Have you btw read this article mostly about Ninomiya Kazunari (Los Angeles Times, january 28 this year)?

I'd love to see what you think of the movie once you get a chance to see it. :)

I think what alexandral was more interested in knowing was what kind of reaction Japanese people had to the film, and how authentic it felt from the perspective of people who either are Japanese or are very close to Japanese culture.

I did read that article about Nino! I kept forgetting to post it, but it was blogged by a few people on my friends list, so that made me forget even more. :) Thank you for the reminder and the link. It's an interesting article, and so nice to see in western media.
