Steve Hogarth is the lead singer of my favorite band, Marillion. Here is a really pretty fancam of his solo version of one of my favorite Marillion songs.
Ahhhh the beautiful heartbreak! This is one of my absolute favorite Marillion songs and it is an exquisite version. Thanks for sharing I had missed this one. XOXO Nicole
Eeee! Sweetie, I'm so glad you like it. Stay tuned. I'm going to post more of these, but I'll do it slowly, so as not to flood my LJ all at once. :) I hope you and M are well!
This is beautiful. He has an amazing voice and so much emotion. He makes me wanna cry. OK. you have finally convinced me *lol*. I am going into the living room right now and look through my dad's CDs to find his Marillion albums ;)
Meep! :) I should warn you, though, that Marillion had a different singer before, so if your dad's albums are from before 1989, then Steve Hogarth isn't singing.
The albums I recommend the most are Seasons End (1989 - their first with Steve Hogarth and still amazing), Brave (1994), Afraid of Sunlight (1995), Marbles (2004). Afraid of Sunlight and Seasons End are probably the most accessible for people who've never heard Marillion before. I'll post up some more videos so you can hear some more of what they're like. :)
They're definitely NOT everyone's cup of tea, although it's likely you may like some of their music, but I'd be surprised if you liked all of it. I won't feel bad if it's not your thing, because although I'm lucky that some of my oldest and dearest friends (like the poster above who is a childhood friend) are Marillion fans, many of my friends are not.
All that being said, I salute you for giving them a try! :)
I only managed to find one album. If you know how my dad's CD collection looks like, you'd know that this is quite an achievement *lol* Anyway, the one I found is a live album called "Made again" from 1996 and was recorded in London, Rotterdam and Paris. My favorite song so far is "No One Can". I haven't had a chance to listen to both CDs, so I have only heard the show from London and part of the Rotterdam show.
I don't think they are likely to become one of my favorite bands, but I certainly like their music. The lyrics are very impressive :)
Thanks for your reccs, I will try to find some of those albums.
