I am so glad you managed to make it to a show! You really don't get the full (bizarre) picture of Mute Math until you've seen them cavorting around the stage live. ;) They have such character - and the musicianship, egads. Your descriptions are spot-on, and make me miss them all the more. Hee, Paul the stunt-man; it's amazing that Rhodes isn't scrap by now. :D

After the show, we went up front to get a good eyeful of both the Rhodes and the drumkit. Both are soo incredibly battered. The Rhodes looks like it's been through war.

Question for you: the show was sooooo early. 8 pm for a rock concert at a club! I asked at the ticket booth why and they said it was at the request of the artist, and when I looked at the tour schedule, there are several upcoming 8 pm shows. My friend I looked at each other after the show when we went back to the car at 9:30 and said, "When's the last time we were leaving the headline act at a club show at this time?" Um, never. Usually the headline act doesn't even come on until 10 pm or after!

So do you have any idea why their shows are so early? I wasn't complaining at all! It was heavenly to go home on a work night and be in bed before midnight.

My guess would be it's for the band's own health and well-being, as they've been touring non-stop (literally) since 2004 (10 tours total in 3 years! Check their Wikipedia page). They keep a pretty grueling schedule, and seeing as they don't yet have the more luxurious traveling benefits of better-known bands, they'd probably jump at the chance to schedule early shows when possible. ;)

But yeah - I wish more weeknight concerts would be so accommodating! Were there any other bands playing with them?
