I'll keep this in mind if I ever get an iPod next year.
Cause right now, I have problems with my ilo mp3 player...it shuts off when I try to play a song. Which has never done that until I reset it.

This is wonderfully helpful, thanks so much. I wish I had read your other help guide before I plugged my iPod in :P

You're welcome; I'm glad it's useful - and feel free to share it with anyone else who has the same question.

I'm so paranoid about autosyncing, that when I downloaded this new version of iTunes and I saw how different it looked, the FIRST thing I looked for was how to shut of autosyncing. Even when I got my first iPod, that was one of my biggest concerns.

For people who don't move their collections around much, autosyncing is awesome, but for the rest of us, it sucks big time.

By the way, I'm going to post shortly about software to help you get music OFF your iPod should you ever need to move or copy something from your iPod to your computer if that is your only copy...could be useful in your case where you lost all your music except on your iPod.
