Episode 2 has to be my favorite from Kurosagi. Perhaps I'm biased since I love Koyama so much, and seeing him with Yamapi in that episode made me so happy. I really adored the flashback scene of Kurasaki and Satoshi as schoolmates/friends.
I've only seen Yamapi in Nobuta and Kurasagi, and he's impressed me in both dramas...hoping to throw in Dragonzakura with the dramas I'm watching right now, need to balance all the angst I'm watching this season.
I fail at commenting with any intelligent thoughts, need to get back to my work. =P
Hee. I'm very much there with you on loving episode two a lot because of Koyama's guest appearance; but really, that episode was Koyama's best piece of acting, I thought!
Yamapi has impressed me tremendously in Kurosagi which I feel is a much better vehicle for his talents that NwP was - although he was wonderful in that, too.
I also loved the flashback of Kurosaki and Satoshi from their school days! It was brief but packed with feeling and beautifully filmed. I love the director so much - he keeps framing such lovely shots...
Something that I think is interesting is in your review is that you are using "destroy" a lot and I know this is because fo the way Kioku chose to translate the word being used (an appropriate translation into English, IMO). The word in Japanese used when someone says destroy (for the most part) in this drama is "kuu". It's actually a somewhat vulgar/vicious way of essentially saying, "to eat" - other translations could be "to devour" or "to consume". Guys often say it to say something as simple as "Let's go eat!" (kui ni ikou!), but its not something girls use very often, and if used it often thought as informal/less polite Japanese.
Anyway, getting back to the point I was trying to make. :P Kurosaki using that particular word is really telling about how he indeed HAS been surviving for the past six years. He literally has been sustaining himeslf on destroying/eating the shirosagi/akasagi that he comes across. I think this adds more the concept of without Katsuragi, Kurosaki lacks a serious means of surivival. Essentially, he would

I love so much that you shared this with me! These are the things that are coded into language that a non-speaker would never get. Your point is an apt one - Kurosaki does "feed" on the shirosagi/akasagi like a kind of vampire. Without them, and without Katsuragi to provide them, he would have nothing at all to live on.
And I also love your point about the animalistic nature of all three kinds of swindlers. It certainly seems true for Kurosaki - he's reduced his life to eat, sleep and prey. If not for that cat, there would be nothing else for him.
I've always had a hard time figuring how who was who in NewS apart from Pi and Ryo. I could never keep the others straight, but now I've gotten about six of them down, so I consider that quite an accomplishment! :D
Oh yes, Pi's look in Kurosagi is a much better fit for him - it allows him to look (finally!) like a grownup and be sexy, which we know he's capable of but outside of some of his musical performances (like "Let Me") he's never been allowed to really let his true sex appeal shine through.
I love the snark so much - and Pi's deadpan is brilliant and so effective! I could go on squeeing, but I'll stop here and just say that I'm so glad this might inspire you to rewatch. :)
Ah i've just finish watching Kurosagi. Finally found the files from our intranet in hostel, finally some ppl hav it & r sharing it, glad!! After such a long time~
Was quite happy to see Koyama Keichiro (Satoshi) appeared in Ep. 2. Though he has smaller eyes, i kinda think he's cute cute~~ But was really sad when they had to cheat each other. In d end when Satoshi was screaming, crying over that side of the fence.. that was quite touching..
Yeah Yamapi looked cool~~ in this drama. Though sometimes looks, URRGHH, when he dressed/pretended to be some1 else to swindle. That tears..OH..~~
Anyway skipped a bit of those swindling parts coz was abit boring.. But i really like the 'chemistry' btw Tsurara (Maki) & Kurosagi!! Hope to see 'more' of their relationship progression but unfortunately..
Hav been seeing some of ur screencaps from Sapuri & thus HitoKoi b4~ Hav u watched Ep. 2?
