V6 PIMPAGE POST!

As supposedly the Only Fan on the Internet, I present to you, in all it's horror glory, the V6 Pimpage Post of Doom. I can't promise I'll be witty, because I generally fail at wit, and write information like an encyclopedia. But I'll try to have you atleast know their names by the end. And to understand the beauty of Go-kun and the Chibi Utahime. 8D

That's them, aren't they cute?

And now, for some important background information. \:D/ V6 were formed in late 1995 and debuted on November 1st. I'm pretty sure they were formed as a volleyball team, or atleast to promote volleyball. The "V" in V6 stands for "victory", and the 6 is 'cause there's 6 of them!

One thing that makes V6 interesting (and different from other JE groups), is the fact that they're divided into two sub-units that often work independently from the whole group. The first is 20th Century (a.k.a. ToniSen), which features the three oldest members: Masayuki Sakamoto, Hiroshi Nagano, and Yoshihiko Inohara. The other is Coming Century (a.k.a. KamiSen), which includes the three youngest members: Morita Go, Miyake Ken, and Junichi Okada. V6 albums usually have a song or two by each subgroup, and they also have released entire albums apart from V6.

Like Tackey & Tsubasa, V6's record label is Avex Trax. They have released 9 albums, plus 2 Best of CD's. And that doesn't count mini-albums or KamiSen and ToniSen albums. Their first single was the very, very eurobeat song MUSIC FOR THE PEOPLE. And last fall they celebrated their 10 year anniversary as group.

Currently V6 have two television shows, Gakkou e Ikou! (Let's go to school!) and Viva Viva V6. Gakkou e Ikou! is like a cross between SMAPxSMAP and G no Arashi. They've had guests before, and performed skits, but sometimes they go out and do stuff (like learning to iceskate). VVV6...I'm not sure about the point of it. I've seen a few episodes and they were all V6 eating. It wasn't terribly interesting.

V6's first movie as a group was Hard Luck Hero, directed by Sabu (like Tegoshi's Shissou), and came out in 2003. Their second movie was Hold Up Down, also directed by Sabu, and it came out in 2005. They're both kind of like...black comedies. They're funny, but slightly off color/morbid. Coming Century also have a movie called Cosmic Rescue. They play astronauts.

V6 are also part of J-FRIENDS, which is a super group made of TOKIO, KinKi Kids and V6. They were formed for a charity event, and released quite a few singles. I think they "went on hiatus" in 2002.

MEMBER PROFILES
(this is where I wibble about how cute/awesome/talented they all are)

20th Century a.k.a. the older and more manly sounding three.

Masayuki Sakamoto (坂本昌行) wiki, jdorama
Birthdate: July 24, 1971
Hometown: Tokyo

Sakamoto is the leader as well as the oldest member, and he has one of the best voices in the group. He has an alternate ego named Marsa Sakamoto that does solo songs. Like the Japanese version of Phil Collin's You'll Be in My Heart. Yes, the song from the Tarzan movie. XD He also does a lot of stage plays, like Kiki's Delivery Service and Footloose. He's also a good dancer...I like watching him tapdance.

He said that if he didn't debut by the time he was 20, he'd quit. So he actually did, and worked at a travel agency for a while. But then Johnny asked him back to play in a baseball game. I don't understand Johnny's mind sometimes.

He seems pretty laid back, and doesn't mind laughing at himself. But sometime he goes into leader-mode. He's also really afraid of heights, bugs...scary things in general. And he's not afraid of letting you know he's afraid. Since he's the oldest, the other members are like "OMG ARE YOU FALLING APART?!" and watch for signs of his failing health. XD He's really athletic though.

Hiroshi Nagano (長野博) wiki, jdorama
Birthdate: October 9, 1972
Hometown: Kanegawa

The "mom" of V6. Nagano is freaking adorable. He's my favorite ToniSen member, maybe even my favorite V6 member. He's like a puppy and I just want to squish him and set him on my bed. ♥ Anyway, I think everyone likes Nagano, he just seem so likable and friendly. I don't think I've ever seen him dislike something. He's always happy and pleasant, day or night. I wonder if that gets annoying?

He also loves all kinds of motorsports, since his parents own a bike shop. He won some award in 2002 called the "Person who Suits Motorcycles" award. Japan has a lot of strange awards. He hosts a motorsports show too, and drives cars like a deranged man in both V6 movies.

Food is his best friend, trying restaurants is a hobby. He also has mad crazy acrobatic skills. He's starred in one drama, Utraman, back in the 90's. Since then he's done minor roles, like in Kimi wa Petto. Although this year in starred in the late night drama 2nd House. Which has a lot of naked women, I can never look at him the same again. >.>

Yoshihiko Inohara (井ノ原快彦) wiki, jdorama
Birthdate: May 17, 1976
Hometown: Tokyo

Best known as Inocchi. He's the youngest ToniSen member, and he's...really perky. I've never seen someone so ridiculously hyper. I think he may have severe ADHD. XD He flails around on stage and talks a million miles a minute. He's always smiling and making jokes. The overall hyperness seems to be contagious, because V6 become all bouncy around Inocchi.

Inocchi plays the guitar and has a really strong voice, and apparently his house is like a recording studio. He seems to get along really well with Nagano, and once wrote this really cute song about him and sang it on stage. ♥ He also has a big soft spot for kids (maybe because he IS one?) and has a kid's show called Ponkickies 21. Even though he dropped out of high school halfway through, he promised his father he'd go back and finish before he turned 30, and he actually did it in 2004.

He's published and essay book, and this year all his jweb's were released as a book. There's over 1000 of them.

And not sure if this is worth mentioning, but he seems to lose his pants a lot. Or if he's in a onsen, off comes the towel. \:D/

COMING CENTURY a.k.a. without Okada we sound like chipmunks!

Morita Go (森田剛) wiki, jdorama
Birthdate: February 20, 1978
Hometown: Saitama

If V6 have a "bad ass" member, Go's it. Supposedly named after singer Hiromi Go, he does most of the raps, and likes hip hop and R&B. In dramas or skits he always plays some type of delinquent (except Kuitan which is hilarious and everyone should see it). Sometimes his idea of a concert solo is to dress up in some thug-like clothing with profane English on it and dance around to a Snoop Dog song. XD

He's good (best?) friends with Ken Miyake, and the two hang off of one another in the most adorable ways. ♥ Except they said in HEYx3 earlier this year than they didn't have one another's cell numbers. Sakamoto treats him like a younger brother. When Go was a teenager he was very pretty, but he's not girly at all now.

Go likes bowling (and is good at it). He also gets along well with old people, kids and animals. He's easily moved emotionally. So even though he's supposedly the "bad ass" V6 member, he's not really bad ass at all.

He's also part of Go Toromi and the Mini-Curry.

Miyake Ken (三宅健) wiki, jdorama
Birthdate: July 2, 1978
Hometown: Kanagawa

V6's most "idol-like" member. I thought he was the youngest for a while, just because he's so cute. At lives he always looks perfect, even at the end when everyone else is exhausted and drenched in sweat, Ken still looks good. XD His voice is REALLY high and sharp, so solos tend to be a bit painful. It just never got any deeper, he talks in a squeeky voice, too. Which makes his giggle really awwwww.

Ken has large ears, and when his hair is really short he reminds me of Ross Perot . -_-;; He likes recycling. Apparently he has poor health, so he consumes a lot of vitamins and health drinks. Picking up on languages seems to be something he's good at, when V6 go overseas he learns phrases and talks to the locals. He also enjoys glomping Go.

In 2004 he was in a stage production of The Graduate, and he was also in the 2001 drama Neverland.

Junichi Okada (岡田准一) wiki, jdorama
Birthdate: November 18, 1980
Hometown: Osaka

Possibly the most popular and well-known member of V6, due to the large amounts of dramas and movies he's starred in. He got into Johnnys not by auditioning like normal people, but by winning a TV contest his mom entered him in. When he left Osaka to go to Tokyo for his first day of work, he never came home. Johnny asked him if he could play volleyball, and stuck him straight into V6. So essentially he was never a Junior. Okada is the youngest member (although he's the most mature and serious) and when they debuted he was 14.

Since he was never a junior, he didn't make any friends or learn all those crazy skills that they're taught. It doesn't seem to matter though, he masters everything he tries to do. Okada is very stubborn and has a unique sense of humor. He'll be acting very serious, the suddenly he'll just say something completely random and amusing. He's also a very good actor and plays the guitar and piano. One of his good friends is Tsuyoshi from KinKi Kids, I think it's the Kansai thing. XD

He's also posed semi-naked for AnAn magazine. Thanks to sakusaku for sending me those! Although Shingo and Hiroki were more naked. Unless there's more to that photoshoot does anyone have it?

MEDIA & DOWNLOADS

PV's
spikiegirl (who is awesome, by the way) has uploaded every V6 PV over HERE. I was going to re-upload my favorites and put the links here, but I just tried one and MU told me 2 hours for one PV. So, just go there and download them, it'll help keep her hardwork from expiring. :D

For a good sampling, I'd recommend:

- MUSIC FOR THE PEOPLE, which is their first PV and hilariously 90's-esque.
- Beat Your Heart, there's something about this PV that just makes me lol so hard.
- Ai Nanda, cute cbibi!V6, fireworks, genki song.
- Generation Gap, idk why, my Mom likes this PV. It's good. XD
- In the Wind, I skipped like 5 PV's in between this one and the last. A lot of their late 90's PV have them dancing in warehouses/airplane hangers and it gets really dull unless you like the song. This one is more fun.
- Change the World, it's that damn Inuyasha the song. Too bad I still really like it.
- Ai no Melody, the cutest and brightest PV evaaaaar. ♥
- Dasenai Tegami, pretty song, pretty PV. I like aqauriums.
- Darling, Kimi wa Petto theme. 8D
- Hard Luck Hero, should make you want to see the movie Hard Luck Hero. XD
- UTAO UTAO, 10th anniversary PV.
- Orange, my favorite V6 PV, for some reason.
- Good Day!, and finally, their newest single.

Clips, Lives, whatevers

This is where I try and make you think they're amusing. Once again, I'm giving you YouTube links. Who wants to download something they know nothing about and might not even find amusing? I don't have much of this on my harddrive at the moment because I keep crashing my PC.

This may be what I mean about Okada's odd sense of humor
