Okay, hear me out, wonderful anons.

Frank has his champion, Johnny has his loss. Yes, I want a Frank trains Johnny *and* Evan fic. Suicide training, giving Johnny some new perspective. Driving Evan *crazy*. Whiny brat Johnny who finally gets his mind in the right place. Evan learning artistry from Johnny; Johnny learning how to land a quad on the nuts of his competition. DO IT PLEASE ♥

It was a big thing, to give up your dreams.

Well, giving up may be an exaggeration, but he was definitely re-evaluating what he wanted out of life. The thought of four more years of never being good enough left him with what felt like a lead weight in the center of his chest. He was old, he was tired. He didn't have the same drive that Lysacek had.

That fucking mongoose.

So, Johnny fought an internal war with himself everyday. Some mornings he woke up itching to train; Some mornings he woke up wanting to eat ice cream and watch tv. Galina poked and poke for a firm answer, he just didn't know what to tell her. He didn't know how to tell her that if he did skate that season, he was thinking about changing coaches.

He didn't know how to tell her that he'd been approached by Frank Carroll.

The same Frank that coached Evan and Mirai, and had coached Sasha and Michelle. Johnny had laughed into the phone outright at the suggestion, more than a little offended at the things he had said. That he needed a more respectable, American coach ( ... )

He had been training with his program to prepare for this, so it went off without a hitch. His spins were a little shaky, but he attributed that to the way he'd been sitting on his legs for hours. One thing he did not do was tone down the level of fuck yeah; If Frank wanted to train him, he was going see the program has he had done it in Vancouver. Even if Johnny had to blow kisses at Lysacek, who was sitting there like a block of wood. Maybe Frank had engaged his off switch ( ... )

Three Months Later - October

^^^^^

The first month had been the worst.

Patti had helped Johnny with his cross-country move, only crying once or twice. She'd also had a few meetings with Frank, someone she wasn't too fond of. Johnny hadn't intruded, but since she'd come away from the meetings feeling all right about leaving Johnny there, he figured all was well. Tara had decided to stay behind, but she helped Johnny as much as she could from where she was. Some nights that first month, Johnny had sat with his finger over the button to call Galina. He'd been ready to apologize, and beg her to take him back.

It was one of Evan's stupid motivational posters that had convinced him not to. You couldn't move backward to move forwardJohnny and Frank had butted heads more than they had got along at first. Johnny was not well suited to early morning practices that went on for eight hours a day. Frank was an evil taskmaster, too, pushing the two of them (three, if Mirai was around) just past what they could handle. The thing about Frank, ( ... )

Moving forward two months, today was the first time he'd nailed his new short program (and he had, well and truly nailed it) and he'd nearly cried. Mirai was jumping up and down, clapping, and even Evan managed a smile. Frank had, of course, told him to do it again“The bitch is back.” Johnny said, skating over to give all three of them a high five, before doing just that. Four more times, to be exact, before slumping onto a bench. “I can't feel my … anything ( ... )

Yay, I like that you worked in both of their cleaning tendencies, and the line about Evan being dumber than an Ashton Kutcher movie was so perfect I lol'd IRL
