(I'm really coming to love fanfic!Eleven. And getting a bit scared there ... canon!Eleven will have a lot to live up to! *g*)

Matching his manners to the old-fashioned apparel, he politely holds out his hand. "Captain Jack Harkness."

"I was only saying hel-" The penny drops. "Doctor?"

That made me laugh out loud, literally, the dog thinks I'm crazy. And it was nice to have a laugh before things got a bit more serious. Not sad though. They are who they are, they've done what they've done.

Don't imagine your version of Eleven will hold, but it would be nice if it did. Maybe there will be enough of a gap before he picks up New Chick (I'm so unspoiled that I don't even know her name) that we can fill in with fic all the lovely Doctor/Jack adventures before he wandered off and found her. Like filing in the gap between TDD and Boomtown.

I'm glad the fic gets across that feeling of "things are as the are," without getting too bleak and dark.

No, I don't think this Eleven will happen, either. But it's fun to play with him while he's still a blank page and we can do whatever we want. *g*
