Just lovely - and they both needed that so badly, didn't they?

But this brings it beyond merely a hurt/comfort fluffy shag:

"Which of us is the better man, do you suppose?"

Oh, yes, what a question! Jack will never answer it, of course, or believe the answer. The Doctor sacrificed once, but never again - and I wonder if Jack would ever be able to do it again?

Thank you so much! They really did need it. :)

And as for that question - I'm pretty sure in their darker hours, they both think they know the answer, but in their saner ones they realise it's not that simple.

That's an interesting question, btw, whether Jack would be able to do it again! All in all I'm leaning toward yes (more than the Doctor could, certainly), but I'm not sure at all.

Mmmmm, this is wonderful. Timey-wimey, gritty, emotional, difficult Jack/Eleven is just what the doctor (ha) ordered. Brilliantly executed. Thank you!

I adore this. Your Doctor is awesome. I know we dont really *know* what Eleven will be like yet, but this feels like the core of the man we know.

And this...
He smiled as another piece of his new self clicked into place. "Not too afraid of not running," he murmured to himself. "I'm that kind of a man. For once."

Oh thank you. I don't care if this get's Jossed to high hell... this to me is what SHOULD happen. In MY World the Doctor does care enough about Jack to do this and help him heal and let Jack be the one hold him and listen while he processes his own crap. Plus, the way you give it to us is funny and hot and smart. Really hard to pass all that up!

Thank you very much! I know this is going to be Jossed as soon as the first episode of the new series airs, but I had a lot of fun making up my own version of Eleven. And I think that works, so long as he still remains the Doctor, you know?

And OMG yes, I really want that to happen, too.

(I don't think it's not caring that's usually stopping him from going back to anyone, but ... yeah, it can look an awful lot like it, especially to the one left behind.)

The TARDIS practically purred with pleasure - she'd always liked Jack, and since her return from being turned into a paradox machine she'd not even been bothered any more by what Jack was.

I particularly like that!

"And you killed the mood." OW.

Great. And a perfect ending line. Really like the way the Doctor plans to kick off new regenerations... it's not like Jack won't be around, somewhere. :)

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed the story. :)

(I'm rather fond of the Doctor's plan, myself. *g*)

This is brilliant. I really loved your characterizations of Eleven and Jack and where they were in their lives.

Loved it.
