Awwww. I loved how broken the Doctor was after what happened with Donna and how they all tried to help him, playing into his fantasy. I liked Jack's speech about not giving in- especially considering his life and state of undead. I could have lived without a mention of River Song and her being his Dulcinea- if I thought Rose was bad enough.... But that's just my opinion. Loved the fic.

Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah poor Doctor, he just looked so heartbroken at the end of S4 I couldn't leave him like that!

As for the ladies, eh they're both canon sadly but also I just see Jack as more a fellow knight than a Dulcinea (even if he has been a bit of a interglactic slut at times - and don't we love him for it!!) They fight for the others, might dedicate their victories to them but at the end of the battle its the boys who will be side by side still.

Well if you put it THAT way *G*. I'm aware that River Song and Rose are canon, unfortunately, doesn't mean I have to like it or them. But I like the idea of the boys dedicating their victories to others, but still fighting side by side.

River Song? Where did that one come from?
Of course, if she actually was a future, female Jack it would make sense...

Anyway, the story was brilliant! It was heartbreaking and intense but ended well. I just don't like the idea of the Doctor being alone once again.

Ahhh well as shes canon as "in his future" I figured I'd use her as his motivation to get back out there, to know things will work out in the end and there is always another adventure. So the Doctor isn't really alone as he goes again this time, he's on his way to meet his next Dulcinea - he just doesn't know where she is yet.

I admit I like River Song's scorning him as an "incomplete" Doctor and the image that he still has so much to learn. And the thought that one day he will be ready for Jack to be his next Dulcinea. :)

i kind of find it odd that all of them, including mickey and gwen, could quote the man of la mancha.

and i kind of want to hit the doctor for leaving again but that's who he is.

Heeheehee medicine isn't my thing but I wanted to say like his heartrate is dropping - but with two hearts that confused me even more! XD

Eh I figure whilst they spent all that time watching over him somebody told them the story/put the film on in the background.

Yeah he always leaves but I guess that's his way. Poor thing.
