That is awesome! Sounds like you had loads of fun and met lots of great people. I'm so jealous of your travels ;). It's always interesting to hear about academic commentary on things that you enjoy and even things like slash. Because really you would assume that one who writes on these things academically would be involved enough to find some amusement out of the subject matter itself. Awesome work on the presentation! Good luck on writing the full length article! :D
