fanfiction: The Anniversary

This odd little one shot  wouldn't leave my brain until I wrote it down. Warning: It's not spuffy, although Buffy plays a part. I'd love your honest opinions- this  is the first thing I've ever written from an outsider's POV and I'm thinking of an expanded story (which is Spuffy) if this one works.  Thanks to

You know, I can't think of a story you've written that I didn't like. I love this one though!

one of the things I love most about the Buffy-verse is that it's so three dimensional. Sure, you've got the epoch battles and star crossed lovers but you've also got people singing about the dry-cleaners and running small businesses.

Nice look at a minor character here. Willy was never the star, but he makes the 'verse richer just by being there. You've written him believably, and entertainingly to boot!

And one of my favorite fic "kinks" is seeing a familiar character through outside eyes!

Thanks Z. That's exactly what I thought too-he's not a major player but was around enough that everyone knows him. It would be something different to do a couple short stories from his POV.

I was disappointed we never really saw Willy again after one episode in S4. He still got mentions but was never on screen.

This was fun.

I agree- I was sorry he wasn't used more. He's an integral part of the 'verse though, so I thought it might be something a little different to do a story (or two) from his POV.

I actually thought people would think I'd lost my mind for writing this. But the idea for a series of short stories from the bartender's POV kept nagging at me until I wrote this first one. (it's been on my computer for over a month) I asked J to read it a few days ago and she liked it a lot, so that gave me courage to post.

I know what you mean, that was my thought exactly. It would be fun to get a view of the world from someone who isn't in the heros' loop. And Willy is about as far out of that loop as possible, yet not a demon himself. A sort of weasel-ish everyman. LOL

I have decided to continue-you guys have given me the encouragement I needed to believe it would work. It will be a series of short stories-I already have one in mind.
