What is the matter with people?

Joe and I went today to pick up our pictures at Sears (a story in itself, but not an interesting one). While we were waiting, I noticed two girls - probably five and seven years old, apparently getting ready to have their pictures taken. They were wearing off-white, VERY nice and obviously expensive dresses, and, oddly, eating sticky pretzel bits ( Read more... )

They do this because stores let them do this.

How can a store like Sears prevent it? They probably didn't even go into the fitting room (because those are monitored), but put them on right in the aisle. I wouldn't blame the store, I blame the idiot people who have no respect for the property rights of others.

That is so incredibly tacky and gross. I would have been so tempted to ask the parent(s) in a really loud voice if Sears rented clothing for the sole purpose of taking family portraits. Then I would have been tempted to say in a syrupy sweet voice to the child, "Careful honey! Whoever buys that dress later on might not want crumbs and goop all over it!"

People never cease to amaze me with their blatant disrespect for other people's property.

I'm going through another of my misanthropic phases because I'm working with the federal government right now to help people pay for their utility bills (LIHEAP). It's amazing the sense of entitlement people have. They never read the Berenstein Bears story about the Gimmee-Gimmees. It makes me sick to my stomach the loathing I feel. Seriously.

Oh, believe me, I mentioned the fact to Joe in what was an unnecessarily loud voice, and the family (who had not yet had their pictures taken) suddenly was...nowhere to be found.
