Dude, I think being an archivist would be so cool!

It would! :D

Except that it requires a separate specialization from the libraries degree, which I said "pffft" to at the beginning because I didn't think I wanted to do archives. :(

But actually, most of the archivists at the Air & Space Museum were not degreed archivists, so I can probably work it. :)

:glomps: I'M SO GLAD YOU ARE STATE-SIDE AGAIN!!!! :not letting go:

Man that is actually pretty cool!

Also: You know you should just give it up and go to sleep when you keep misreading archivist as anti-Christ.

I might sekritly want to be an archivist.

^ Slightly terrifying when those two words are confused. But it's alright. I know you don't want to be an anti-Christ. Pretty sure at least....

My sleep deprived brain does bad things to the written word.

.....As you were.

uncovering the mosaics of Hagia Sophia

Cool!

I enjoy it when other people are archivists and then can tell me neat things. So please do continue! :P

Oh yeah, being an archivist must be so cool! Thanks to the digitalization of the local registry (is it the right word?) I´m getting to know my ancestors - well, at least a bit. :-) I´m currently in year 1810 and I´m afraid I won´t get much further, because the entries are getting harder to read. Unless I learn how to read old kind of handwriting, which I probably will, because it´s so, so cool.

I should do some genealogy research. I've tried half-heartedly a few times, but I always get annoyed when I can't find something easily (my mom's dad's surname is reallllly common).

But yes! Historical documents and stuff are awesome! But they did have awful handwriting back in the day. In fact, some of the letters in the Whittemore collection are from other people to him, and a few of them asked him to write more legibly. :)

I love your Thomas Whittemore detective work! Also:

We suspect that TW did not get his fur coat back, as there was a rather chaotic revolution shortly thereafter

One point in favor of following your archival inclinations: You've got the archivist's dry wit down cold. :-)

p.s. Hope the first day of class went well!

Hee, thank you! :)

First day was okay. That class is going to be 1) catatonic and 2) really hard. Am now killing time before my other class tonight, which is allegedly an easy class.
