okay, i'm somewhere in between laughing and crying right now, having just received an email from my MIA second advisor. O__O;; laughing because the tone in his email sounds like i just emailed him these pages yesterday (rather than 2 weeks ago...). and crying because he gave me comments that would have been really helpful to have had earlier. OBVIOUSLY, he has other important professor things to do, and can't be bothered with mere STUDENTS. I mean, come on! You're interrupting him! Geez! What in the world were you THINKING?!

Aren't professors annoying?

yeah, asking for help is clearly a big no-no in higher academic environments. professors like that are VERY GRRR!!! i almost wish i was in a class with him now so i could write a scathing review of him in the course evaluation. but i cringe at the mere thought of having a class with him. *shudders*

You've never had one with him before? How'd you get stuck with him as a second advisor, then?

You'd better believe that my health care prof is getting the WORST evaluation form I've ever written for a professor. That distinction was going to go to my Japanese prof (of "you won't get into law school if you don't eat lunch at the Japanese table on Tuesdays" fame), but I think health care has far surpassed that standard. ARGH!!! why do they have ot make our lives hard?!

who we get as our advisors has nothing to do with whether or not we've met them before. our senior seminar this semester is team-taught, and we each got one of those profs as our main advisor. then they made recommendations as to who our second advisors should be based on research interests that match our topics. supposedly. apparently the reason my second advisor was loath to help me was because he hadn't read any of my texts. i'm not entirely sure they have the best system going here for Comparative Literature...
