Nothing like a wild fire to make you homesick eh?

Wildfires: the "seedy underbelly" of the California Dream.

I am kind of obsessive about finding information sometimes. (I think I may have chosen the right career path! :) )

You are most graciously welcome!

I'm happy to hear that your family is safe!

Heheeee, you might be a librarian if....

I'm amused that this makes your 'tea' tag :)

I also get really vexed/annoyed/upset if I can't find information.

Well, Tea Fire, so of course it gets the tea tag! After I finally figured out why it was called that, I was like, "wait, there's a Tea House in my hometown that I haven't heard of and is now burnt away? :( "

You definitely made international news. I heard about the fire last night on my drive home, on the radio, and immediately thought of your family. I'm glad they're okay.

Aww, thank you!

It always baffles me when my town makes international, let alone national, news. I mean, wildfires are a fact of life in California, they happen all the time, so I wouldn't think it'd be so news-worthy to folks outside the state. Though, this one is a bigger fire and there's lots of newsworthy people who live in the area.

Or maybe my town is just bigger than I think it is.

Well, I think it's partly that wildfires aren't a fact of life here in damp, cold-ish Germany. They're fascinating and completely alien. Of course, there's a forest fire every here and there during summer, but that's always the big exception.

And yeah, one of the first sentences during that radio report was that a lot of villas belonging to famous people had been destroyed already.

My junior year of undergrad, whenever I mentioned my hometown everyone replied with "Oh! Michael Jackson!" because that was the year he was on trial there. *sigh* We have more than just celebrities! For instance, there is me! :P (Except I don't live there anymore, but it'll always be home.) It's also just a gorgeous area. I like it lots. ♥
