I love Jasper Fforde! Even though I still haven't got round to reading the latest Thursday Next book. (I want to reread the others first, but they're back home across the country and I keep forgetting to pick them up at the library.) Also, I have a stuffed dodo I picked up in Oxford and naturally I named it Pickwick. :)

My ankle's doing okay. It's not swollen or anything, it just hurts a bit. Tea-ish things make for happy distractions, though.

Background check for an apartment? Is that customary? *blinks*

Yeah, they do a credit check on you to make sure that you're responsible with your money and that you'll actually be able to pay the rent. Plus they can contact your employer to verify that you actually do work for them and your previous landlord(s) to check that you're a good tenant.

Me, I don't actually make enough money for this apartment, which is why I'm worried. But I have a huge amount of savings and my parents said they'll help me out, I just don't know if that's something the apartment people would take into consideration.

Doesn't the U.S. sound fun?
