I live in stories

I am rereading Northanger Abbey and, besides being excessively amusing, it is making me long to go to Bath again. Preferably with someone or someones who would properly appreciate its Jane Austen geekery and Bath-y prettyness, since the people I went with last time were not interested in either ( Read more... )

That photo's gorgeous! I want to go back to Bath with Regency geeks too. (Isn't it an irony that Austen turned so many people onto Bath, but hated it herself?)

Also, must add Bath Tangle to my to-read list.

The photo was taken from one of the bridges over the Avon (not one of the famous bridges that are always featured in Bath Regency tales, though).

Yeah, I've always thought it was rather bittersweet/ironic that they have a huge Jane festival in Bath. On the one hand, Persuasion is possibly my favourite Austen novel, but on the other hand, she hated Bath.

Bath Tangle is fun! It's sort of a Pride & Prejudice-y love/hate story. Set in Bath! :)

Just to say, if there was any possibility of cheap flights, I could provide free lodgings in Bath. Should you want them.

Alternatively, and far cheaper, I can provide a packet of postcards and/or photos. But not, alas, a Bath bun.

Aww, thanks. Still don't have time this year, though. Alas and alack.

A postcard would be lovely, though! If you don't mind. I can send one from hereabouts, too, if you want. I adore postcards, both sending and receiving. :)

I've had a copy of Northanger Abbey for ages. I really should read it soon.

Yes, you should! It's so lovable. (No, really, that's the best word for it. It's a parody of Gothic romances, and the "heroine" is delightfully naive.) :)
