Rain & TV night

TGI Friday... whew. Tiring and wet week. It's been raining off and on since Wednesday, and pretty much non-stop today. But I survived. And I didn't get swept away by the rushing rivulets of water in the gutters or drown in a giant puddle, so w00t.

Come to think of it, you're totally right about "Beth and Josh's friends". They didn't give off the feel of being particularly close, did they? I mean, those people ought to be their closest friends, or why on earth would they care about celebrating someone else's dating anniversary? But the comfort level wasn't there. I wondered if the girl giving the toast might be Josh's sister, until she showed up at Beth's work. Awkward all around.

The kiss though!

I was also surprised when Beth's "friend" mentioned that she and Josh don't live together. That wasn't the impression I got from previous episodes at all. Have we even seen Beth's apartment???

But the last couple scenes, leading to the kiss, saved the show. The kiss was so cute and very yay. "Good-" *kiss* "-bye." And the look on their faces! Sooo cute! ♥

That took me by surprise too. I suppose what we've been seeing must be Beth's apartment, because how would Mick know to go to Josh's door looking for her? I thought it was weird too how her friend was berating her to move in with Josh, or move on to someone else instead. Very good advice! "Beth, rush into something. Anything, really."

I think the take-home point from Avatar tonight was the identity of Zuko's OTHER great-grandfather (I thought that was a nice trick . . . I admit it, they got me). I'm kind of wondering how they're going to set up a whole battle with only like 5 episodes left (does it seem weird that the whole season is only 10 episodes? Are there more that Nickelodeon doesn't want to announce yet?), but I think the implication may be that they're doing a lot of traveling between episodes when we can't see them. Otherwise, I don't know how they're going to get into position in time.

Oh yeah, it was definitely a cool trick with the "no I meant your OTHER great-grandfather" bit. I didn't see that coming either. But, like I said, I just wish it wasn't so heavily backstory and character development all the time this season. Though I suppose the last few episodes with the final battle will have to be all action... I just prefer my stories to be more balanced between the important development plots and action plots. Even if they just threw in a few seconds of Sokka flipping out about their schedule again, I'd feel better.

I've been assuming that there are 10 more episodes that Nick wants to keep very secret. I mean, the other seasons were 20 "chapters" each. And the way they've been advertising these 10 episodes as "ten weeks of all-new Avatar" makes me confident that there's more. They're not saying "it's the LAST 10 episodes EVAR". They'll probably go on hiatus for a couple months in between, though.
