It is worth mentioning that if you read the whole chapter, chapter eight I think, of Isaiah, it is quite plain that the prophesy refers to stuff that was going on at the time and had nothing to do with Jesus. Jesus is sometimes referred to as Emannuel for no other reason than to try to make this non-prophesy fit. The prophesy also refers to an up coming war and predicts a positive outcome. According to another part of the OT, Chronicles I think, the outcome was extremely negative. I find it interesting that the Church is still using the Isaiah reference long after it has been completely discredited.
