On the topic of Narnia Big Bang...

I'm feeling super good about this right now because I've come up with a solid idea which has morphed into a pretty solid outline already. Really, the only issues I'm having with it right now are that I always have trouble naming places (people, I'm good with. places? not so much) and a good deal of the plot hinges on some diplomatic issue between ( Read more... )

Well, you have the whole "island nation" thing to work with, which involves an ocean between Halu'a and Narnia. Perhaps you could have some sort of embargo situation involved? Perhaps it's a leftover policy in place from even before Caspian's time... between the former Telmarine regime in Narnia and Halu'a.

There's a whole sea trade that could be benefitting both countries (or one more than the other, depending on where your disgruntled young adults come from), and maybe Halu'a has the prime climate/location to grow/build/whatever that would benefit Narnia.

However, their own policies/traditions/culture/whatever goes against what Narnia either used to stand for, or maybe still stands for. It's been a stand-off ever since, but both sides are suffering and could benefit from compromise, including more work opportunities for the young adults.

Or something.

OK. This is sounds really cool. Island economies pose lots of possibilities -- they are very limited by their local environment -- it it doesn't grow there or can't be taken from the sea, it has to be imported - and that's usually expensive. So, right there, you've got the seeds for conflict ( ... )
