6B, shopping, babysitting, grandparents... anything else? XD

Talk about your busy three days!

Thursday was 6B, and yet again a bunch of people didn't show up. We're the tiniest group of nine people - this week we were five. Admittedly, one of the guys was sick, but that still left another guy and two girls didn't show up. I suppose they all had their reasons, but seriously, this prep program is what I look forward to the entire week, I couln't bear to miss a day!

But anyway. It was still a bit chilly, so I wore one of my favorite winter outfits (probably for the last time, it's getting really warm again now!) and spent the hour between 7:30 and 8:30 at Ben-Ami, one of the nearby cafés. It's at King Albert Square which is this beautiful little place with reconstructed old buildings and two huge ficus trees and a bench in the square itself. Their coffee was frikking delicious, I think I might make this place my favorite. But I still have like seven other cafés to try out in this area so who knows :P

I wrote quite a bit, both in the morning and between 6B and lunch with my mom; generally, almost 1,500 words throughout the day! I'm still not sure if this finishes chapter 11 or not; it's a big Valentine's Day evening with Kurt and Dave, but it's evolved far beyond what I'd planned and I haven't even gotten to the song of the chapter yet! XD And so far it's over 4K!!! I can remember the days when I was on chapter 3-4 of Everything and I would get excited if I made it to 2.5 or 3K per chapter! XD

So at 6B we went over our homework assignments, which were interesting. As usual, my sketches were too technical and not abstract (in the choice of objects and placement and technique; it was a still life assignment, after all XD ) but I did get good feedback for my technique itself. I have to admit, I'm very pleased with the charcoal sketch (the bottom one) where I tried out tons of different erasing techniques.

The other people's sketches were half-and-half: one girl had a really wonderful detailed still-life sketch, but her shadow placement was off. Another girl had really good detail and shadow-placement on two out of the three objects in her sketch, but the third was entirely flat and therw off the whole thing, and her close-up sketch was also flat. One of the guys totally failed the assignment XD His sketches were totally flat and his objects were completely unrelated, and the assignment was to create some sort of relationship between the three objects... this is the guy who comes from a more structural, architectural background though, so it's understandable.

After reviewing homework, we had a class on photography. They explained to us the various features of most digital cameras (lense, digital zoom, shutter speed, lighting, focus, exposure, etc.) and then showed us how to photograph with white or black backgrounds and how to improvise a home studio. Then they sent us out into the street to photograph 'abstract urban views' which was fun. I won't post all the pics because I bet they're a bit boring; I did a lot of close-ups and textures and got very good feedback from the teacher, but it's nothing you guys would be interested in XD

Our homework assignment is super-tough - we have to study an object or a phenomenon and present 16 frames on the subject. We have to choose a guiding question, like 'what is love' or 'how does colour affect our mood' or 'what are the limitations of a pencil' and go by that. It's got to be pretty abstract and I have no effing clue where to begin XD We have two weeks to do this assignment at least, but I really have to start brainstorming!

After 6B I had lunch with my mom at her office, where I discovered that she'd sprained her leg pretty badly and was actually limping! :O She was supposed to go look after Alon and Omer in the afternoon, so rather than go home by train (which wasn't possible anyway since two trains had collided in the north and the entire tracks were disabled) I went along and helped her out. Any chance to see my nephews :)

But between lunch and babysitting, I went shoppin! My intention had been to buy a faux-leather jacket, but the store I'd counted on (where I'd seen these awesome jackets for pretty cheap back in, I dunno, January?) had already moved on to spring/summer clothes XDDD So instead of a leather jacket, I ended up buying dresses! :D They were dirt cheap and so so pretty that I got the same one in cream and black, and they look quite different:

Can I just say...? I cannot fucking wait  for it to be summer. I want to wear these dresses so bad right now. Maybe with a little jacket/shawl during the Passover Seder :)
I also got the most funky jacket which cost me literally 10NIS. I kid you not, 10 fucking NIS. To put it into perspective - a small bottle of coke costs 10NIS, at the more expensive kiosks. Usually even less.

I'm totally in love the fringes and the different textures and the rivets and buttons ♥

On Friday evening we went to Jerusalem to celebrate my grandmother's 81st birthday and there was good food and lots of giggling nephews and nose-grabbing, lol :D

Aaaaand that's about it. Today I'm hopefully going shopping with my best friend H. I haven't seen her in about two weeks and I miss her like whoa <3

Tomorrow I go back to work :( Boo.
