Sweatdrop forum - Disappointed

Jan 18, 2007 23:23

This rant is directed at my thought on the following uk-manga circle. It will contain offensive material, so if you don't like, don't read. If you want to defend your group then please admit you're sorry to that person.I had been looking at this forum for a while now, though I have never joined because I don't see the point. (More likely I don't ( Read more... )

WTH. Rivalry in the UK doujin world exists? XD
I agree that the post is terrible. Like, oh my gosh, just ignore the post. I'm not familiar with this group, are the forum posters actually part of the circle?
If I actually go there, I would probably eventually stop going.

Lol, no, no this isn't a doujin circle.

They're still original manga artists, but somehow they define themeselves as a circle. Usually a circle is a group of people that works on the same project. They themselves work on their on stuff independantly, although they do co-op at times, but that's not really a definition of a circle is it?

I actually thought they were like a takoubon company or something, that they produce a mag of different artworks by different artists monthly or something but it seems not like it so.

Say how would you define a circle?

No, other than the official members, the fans themselves aren't art of the group. If it was our fet our mods and admins would scold them for sure XD

Speaking of FET, the forum is back! http://fetforum.fudomine.org

But yeah that thread is terrible. I too would lose interest of it.

Sometimes definitions are so vague. I usually lump artists into two groups: 1) professionals, as in people who get pay to do it as a regular actual job. 2) amateurs, original or fan, doesn't matter. They don't get paid, or rather they pay out of their own pockets to get stuff printed. I think a circle falls into the second group, like a circle of friends or people with similar interests? :D

I recognize sweatdrop probably from them posting one of their anthologies all over the internet. That is the least professional way of advertising. XD

So FET forum is back 8D I should go check it out. I thought I was cooling down with tenipuri, but I'm still so into it....

Hmmm... I see... so if you put it that way, they do publish things with their own money, sell them for income. I guess they are a circle then.

Least professional way of advertising? o.O Uhh... if you don't mind me asking, what do you consider as professional advertising? (I'm pretty much interested in this.)

Yeah, I should announce that within my journal lol ^^;;

To be fair only one member of Sweatdrop studios posted in the thread out of over a dozen though I agree its horrid how they were treated. I have seen such behavior before on other anime sites, perhaps its something about 'Otaku' that makes them defensive like this.

Forum posters can be dicks, that’s just a way of life. i have lost count of the number we have over on dama. >_< Shouldn’t say that, they could be watching.

Oh and Windy, just thought you would like to know we just confirmed that Sonia Leong and Emma Vieceli will be back at Tomo-Dachi this year if you fancy meeting them :D

True true. So that really is a behaviour of an otaku?
This is why people don't take pride on that word in Japan (Although for us it's a different thing)

Lol, that's the way of people. Probably because it's not a forum full of international people so things are different.

Wow really? That's another reason for me to go then. When's the new dama coming July?
I'll be happy to meet them lol. I find both of them (From their ljs) to be quite nice. There IS one person on the official sweatdrop forum that I don't like. BUt I won't mention here XD

Huh? It's that late this year?

I see I see, that's call tomodachi, and your usual club is dama. *Keeps in mind*

I would visit your forum once i have time. AT the minute I have to fix something in order to write my report. So good luck to yours! ^^

No, nope.

I'm happy with the fact that official sweatdrop memebers were aware of this.

What scares me was the people that aren't official sweatdrop members were kinda over doing it.
If I accidentally put something wrong in there when I'm a newbie and have them chasing after me like that, then it's a bit hard to not think they're harsh. "What did I do to deserve this~!" - That kinda feeling.
(But then again this person's situation is different)
It's just that I'd like to point out that they shouldn't over do it. That is all.

But nope, I'm not mad anymore. I'm also relieved the official members are aware. That is enough.

Anyway good luck in your work! =D

Actually I am practically a true stalker lol.
One of the reasons I don't join is because I don't get much time to draw. I don't have much to contribute so I'd rather not join in. (It's sad but that is my life at the minute T_T)

Expos are bigger? Yeah... I'd like to do that, go to visit for a holiday. Love to try it once even though it's a bit unsafe if I'm on my own but I'm sure I'll manage somehow lol.

Thanks for the suggestions =D

Maybe one day I'll come to join the forum. I dunno.
