you know what bugs me? when people say the movie 300 is homophobic racist?

it very well maybe, but it's based on the fucking comic. iirc, it's pretty true to the comic, which has the 'homphobic/racist' undertones or whatever in it.

so people just need to fucking stfu about it. take the issues up with the comic, not with the movie.

Oh jeez that bugs me too. Like when they make a movie out of a classic book and people flip their shit over like sexism or something. WHAT DID YOU EXPECT? Or when they make a movie out of something by Alan Moore and people complain about "TOO MANY WHORES"

(even better is when people make movies about historical events, especially related to the military, and people bitch about there not being enough black people/women present. I'm just all "... bitch, please.")

The basic sentiment that I've come across says "WELL, YES, THOSE THINGS HAPPENED... BUT WE SHOULDN'T TALK ABOUT THEM. IT REINFORCES NEGATIVE STEREOTYPES..."

That's true, but i've noticed it just focuses exclusively on the movie, which is ridiculous. If someone decided to explore why he chose that movie, considering it's themes, that'd be fine. But instead a lot of people just flip out of the movie and don't bother thinking.

But that requires reading and reading is so hard.
