Our household spirit (which we call Denis, as we don't know what it calls itself) randomly hides things, and once we've looked everywhere, including all the most improbable places, some of them twice, it puts them back (usually in one of the improbable places). We can only assume that this amuses it. Or possibly it's just interested in our Stuff, and takes things to investigate them, and is just a bit careless about where it returns things to.
