This year may have been the best or the worst one yet for many of us, or even somewhere in between, tougher or nicer then other years. The best thing is the fact that a new year is coming, which may be better or worse, but it will be a new year. I wish I could offer some wise words, or even an inspiring quote by someone smarter or better then I am ( Read more... )

I felt it was appropriate, it lacked the preacheness of some other quotes. It also stated the obvious, but in a profound way.

thanks for the greetings :) normally I just hope the new year will be not worse than the previous one. this way one can make sure not to be strongly disappointed or in other cases to be pleasantly surprised! Happy New Year!!

Aha, lowering expectations to be pleasantly surprise by anything new coming along. A good tactic.

Thank for the wishes.

Terry Pratchett was interviewed on TV this morning because of his knighthood. He's very refreshingly calm, balanced, and UNFUSSY about life and Alzheimers and the future. I respect him enormously - as he said, 'If I'd just been Terry Pratchett the market gardener getting Alzheimers, nobody would have given a stuff. So I have the chance to talk about it, and let other people whose lives have been changed by Alzheimers talk about it, and maybe that'll get research funding to find a cure that bit faster'... or words to that effect.

2009 has been a momentously change-full year for me, and is ending with great happiness and stability and promise for the future, however long that may be. I'm one of the lucky few, I think, and my happiness is tempered with wishes that others will experience something similar in their own lives, and soon.
