Yep, can you imagine Earth scientists flinging asteroids to get Earth into a higher solar orbit? That would be so cool!

The engulfing by a red giant Sun is something I've known about since I was about four, and able to read the Time/Life book that was my greatest treasure - 'The World We Live In'. With fantastic graphics, it showed exactly how the earth will be engulfed.

It'll be far cheaper to settle on Mars with the appropriate fabrication technology to create water, and make THAT Earth Mk.II.
