UCSB was a breath of hot and not-quite-fresh SoCal air after U of O, but I had a very good time anyway. I learned a lot about what I really want in a University as well as several interesting bits of trivia.

I think it was UCSB that was doing research with marine sponges that do something good with toxic chemicals used in global warming destroying lightbulbs....or something like that. THat sounds spiffey.
