Crazy random happenstance (RP for reporter_chloe)
This is for the 'verse with likely_evil and horsewoman_lana and I have no idea atm where it will end up, so.
Dean was out for a normal food run, driving from the motel to the diner a few miles back the interstate. Not that they were starving yet, but hey, it wasn't a bad idea to have some fresh(er) food to supplement the dry stuffs in the room, for whenever they were ready for it.
It was a good thing that the road was almost empty when he pulled into it - just one car passing by right in front of him; and he checked out the blonde driver out of habit... and almost hit the brakes.
They were in Nebraska, not Kansas. For reasons varied and numerous, he and Sam were carefully staying away from Smallville so as not to attract attention that way, in case somebody was spotted, or something somehow happened. Endangering people they knew who couldn't even precisely protect themselves? NOT on the agenda.
But that was most definitely Chloe in that car he was tailing now. (Okay, driving in the same direction and after her. Whatever.)
He plucked out his phone and brought up her number, hesitating for a few moments, then dialed. When she picked up, he just said, "pull over," and hung up. She was probably going to see the car in her rearview mirror, too.
Until she found where to stop, he used the phone to call his brother and tell him he'd not be coming back immediately. He'd no idea how long the conversation might end up, but both of them had done enough of disappearing on each other to last for several lifetimes. And Sam didn't need to wonder if somebody had found him or something like that. Things were happening, he was okay. Carry on, Sammy.
