Well, I'm definitly looking forward to the DVD-release (didn't see it in the cinema because of the German dubbing). It looks amazing and I'm really curious about those dynamics you're describing.
(And I agree: the ballroom-scene in "Game of Shadows" is epic. ^_^ )
I probably exaggarate, off-focus and over-analyze all these scenes. But it is my guilty pressure when watching a movie which totally is not my type. My friend and I do find it homoerotic and even screamed a little when Anna asked her lovers to hold hands.
What surprised me is the black-humor in this movie, though I never expect any. And they all come from Karenin's scenes when Anna put him in the most awkward situation. Poor Karenin, he almost behaves like a saint here, I just don't get why Anna has to mistreat and disrespect him like that.
When Watson said "Thought you'll never ask" I was like "Awww, Watson your pride." He is just too precious.
