I HAD INSOMNIA LAST NIGHT. AND I WAS GOING A BIT CRAZY WITH IT. FIRST I DOWNLOADED A BOOK ON GREEK VERSE COMPOSITION FROM GOOGLE BOOKS AND WAS TOTALLY GOING TO LEVEL UP MY GREEK TO THE POINT OF COMPOSING IAMBICS. ALAS I AM A FINITE AND FLAWED HUMAN BEING, AND COULDN'T WORK OUT A WAY TO GET 'HOUSE AND WILSON' TRANSLATED SO AS TO SCAN WORTH A DAMN AT ALL AND SO I SWORE AND GAVE UP IN FRUSTRATION AND SO YOU GET THIS:

HEE! THE EYEBROWS ON THAT MAN JUST KILL ME!
I WOULDN'T KNOW HOW TO TRANSLATE WILSON INTO GREEK EITHER. I THINK THE LATIN WOULD BE 'VILSONUS'.

THANK YOU!

I WAS TRYING TO GO WITH THE ETYMOLOGICAL ROUTE - 'WILL' CAME FROM HELMET/PROTECTOR, SO I SETTLED ON 'ALEXIDES', BUT THEN 'ALEXIDES T'OIKEIOS TE' ENDS ON A DACTYL AND IT WAS JUST KILLING ME SO I STOPPED.

LOVIN' THE ICON, DUDE. CLASSICAL ATHENIAN LITERATURE ON A/P IS DEFINITELY THE ORIGINAL SLASH FANFICTION SINCE IT TAKES A NOT-EXPLICITLY-SEXUAL RELATIONSHIP FROM 'CANON' AND FLESHES IT OUT WITH VARYING AMOUNTS OF ANGST AND PR0N.

ARE YOU A CLASSICS PERSON? DID I JUST FIND ANOTHER CLASSIC MAJOR ON LJ? NIIICE.

RE A/P

SO MANY PEOPLE I'VE MET ASSUME THAT ACHILLES AND PATROCLUS ARE SEXIN' IT UP IN THE ILIAD. I ALWAYS HAVE TO EXPLAIN THAT THERE ISN'T ANYTHING IN THE ACTUAL TEXT EXPLICITLY STATING THAT THEY WERE LOVERS. BUT EVERYONE KNEW THAT THEY WERE.

HOW ABOUT:

ALEXIDES/OIKEIOS - SULLEKTROI ALEITHES
NOT METRICAL,BUT IT GETS THE POINT ACROSS.
