“I knew he was a good dog, but I had no idea he was so handsome,” Noah confides, his big hand scratching Moses’ tummy just the way he likes it.
Luke bites his lip to keep from laughing and murmurs something polite. Moses is pretty much the homeliest dog in creation, but there’s no way Luke’s going to point that out, not when Noah has that big goofy grin on his face.
I loved this story from beginning to end... and you ended it perfectly. And yes indeed a very happy ending. Thanks for sharing.
Yay! Now I only have...*counts* four unfinished stories to go.
O.Henry? Oh, my! *blushes* I'm so not worthy of that comparison. But now I can't help thinking of a story where Noah sells all his camera gear and Luke sells his hair. ("The Gif of the Gay Boys"?)
After all, Noah is putting a brave face on after being blinded and losing Luke, and then dealing with his possible death. He handled in a very organized Noah fashion, which I loved.
Aww, thanks. I imagine that, if Luke were in a similar situation, he would make some grand, generous gesture. Give all his money to charity and go sky-diving. Noah? Noah makes lists. And makes sure someone he trusts will take care of his dog.
Luke was also blind too in a way-to his own, true feelings. And Holden was right about Reid, who was a decent man, and a good for Luke, a person that he could be happy with. But-he wasn't really in love either, as, like Holden said, the ones you truly love can break your heart. You only get the rewards of love if you're willing to take the

Wonderful Story! Loved it from start to finish. I'm so glad that not only are Nuke back together, but that they've taken away some valuable insights about themselves that will help them to better understand each others' perspectives in dealing with whatever life throws their way in the future.
I definitely enjoyed Luke confirming that sex with Noah is better than sex with Reid. Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. :)
And ending this tale with Moses's musings is simply the perfect way to close. Thanks for writing this!
Aw, how nice to come home to so many lovely comments! I wish I had replied to all of them.
Since you're a fic writer, you know that our motivation is usually what the writers didn't get right - in the case of the Reid storyline, pretty much everything. On the other hand, it certainly gives us a lot of fodder to write about!
One of the things I loved about Nuke was that so much of their conflict was organic. They are an opposites-attract couple, which means their differences both complement and complicate their relationship: Luke is impulsive where Noah is cautious, Luke opens up emotionally while Noah holds back. They can still have those differences while learning to overcome them. If Luke pulls back a little, then Noah can open up more. If Noah opens up more, Luke won't assume the worst. It's called character development. Uh oh! I'd better stop before I get going on one of my rants...
Anyway, thanks for reading. The epilogue for Hazard Pay is up now - hope you like it!
