I'm so sorry for you. That's definately something your mom should have warned you was a possibility many years ago. I wish that there was a way to help other then sending my well wishes and good humor.
She would have... but.... she just found out like... a year ago.... they always told her that it was this and that and the other thing. She's had stomach problems for a while....
I'm just glad that I can go into this KNOWING what's wrong.... no false diagnostics, ya know?
it could just be IBS. it is quite difficult to diagnose crohn's disease. having lived with crohn's for 5 years now, i can attest to this. just relying on what the internet says about the symptoms is not always the best route to go. there is nothing to prove it is genetic. i have asked my doctor this several times. there is no known cause. there is also no known cure. i currently take a total of 15 pills a day (5 pills, 3x daily) to help control it.
actually, diet does change things when you have IBS or even crohn's disease. you can survive without immediate medical attention. a few helpful hints:
1: NOTHING with seeds (cucumbers, tomatoes, sesame seed bagels/buns, italian style sausage, etc)
2: NOTHING with nuts (cereal with almonds in it, chunky peanut butter [creamy is just fine, though], etc)
3: try to avoid eating a lot of raw vegetables. the fiber contents can do a number on you. they call it "rough"-age for a reason
( ... )
