Ideas anyone?

So, part of my goal this year is to become healthier and slimmer. So far, I have cut all soda from my diet. I went from drinking 3-4 cans of soda a day to 0. Have not had any for over 2 weeks. I also cut back on my Gluten intake. I'm only eating 2 slices of bread per day or the equivalent and am eating rice and other whole grains instead. I am ( Read more... )

The mucus issue with milk - is that just you or is it some sort of known thing? You can get your milk-goodness from yogurt and cheese. Live yougurt is really good for you (I like the vanilla one).

I'm also trying to lose weight and 2 weeks without working out doesn't normally show any changes for me. Are you drinking a lot of water? That is a known good way to help with weight loss - also getting enough sleep and eating enough vegetables. I have some pretty huge issues in the sleep department but I try to drink v8 daily above and beyond the veggies I eat to ensure I'm getting enough.

The best success I've had with weight loss was circuit training with weights 3x a week. My current schedule doesn't allow that so I'm struggling to find something else that will be as effective. I hope you'll post anything that helps and works for you. I'd like to hear about it.

I drink 8 glasses of water a day, but I'm severely lacking in the sleep area lately. The mucus thing is just because I have bad allergies and milk is a natural mucus producer and so it totally doesn't help me at all. I love cheese, but I'm hit or miss with yogurt. It just depends on my mood.

If you have a mucus issue when you drink milk, you could be lactose intolerant. How about adding in yogurt and more fiber? Most women don't get nearly enough fiber, and there is a couple brands of yogurt that contain fiber. Win/Win!

well, we also found out that boy child has a digestive issue so it's a good idea for all of us to get more fiber so he doesn't feel singled out.

::waves:: Sounds like you have a good start there. No, two weeks might not show much progress, but stick with it and try not to get discouraged.

Here are a few things that have helped me:

* Light or low fat yogurt, low fat or fat free cottage cheese, green veggies for fiber, no fruit with later meals, NO Cheese, ground turkey instead of ground beef.

* You can't drink too much water.

* 20-30 minutes of any exercise that makes you sweat, 3-4 times a week. You can pick up an exercise ball for less than 15 bucks new and they have a nice range of exercises in the instructions. Small hand weights can also be found cheap at garage sales (don't pay more than $1 per pound).

* 5 small meals a day is perfect. Try to keep them around 300-350 calories, on average.

Good luck!! :)

yeah, we don't eat ground beef at all in my house. Or real bacon for that matter. I eat fat free cream cheese, but sadly I hate cottage cheese. I keep trying it, but to no avail. I totally need more green veggies though. I have the weights already, but I think they are buried in the storage shed. I dance everyday for about an hour, but I think I need to do something different because I'm not feeling the effects anymore.

Do you have a wii fit plus?

I jog, walk and hike but at times I just want to have some fun so I play wii fit and the other games that come with it.

It's very fun and you are moving so it doesn't seem like you are excerising but you are.

I work out every day. I have to if I don't I get lazy. I work out 30 minutes aday.

If you don't like milk try SILK soy milk. I drink it because regular milk makes me gag.

Eat Yogurt it has lots of fiber.

I wish we had a wii. saldy, the price point is still a bit steep for us and the apartment is kinda small for much indoors activity. But I do like Silk. I should totally buy a bottle.

yeah, I'm trying to cut back on my sugar intake. It's amazing where it hides. Everything has so much sugar and so much salt in it. But I had soup for lunch, blackberries and tea for breakfast (i wasn't really hungry when I woke up today) Shrimp fried rice for work lunch (which only had 5 grams of fat and 230 cals)and taquitos and mozzarella sticks for supper. In between, I ate an apple, some mango slices, and fruit and nut mix. I drank water and herbal tea today and am thinking about fixing some sugar free cocoa before bed, because I haven't been sleeping well.
