Summary: Kellye is kind of depressed due to how everyone looks her over. A new doctor means a promising new adventure.
Kellye did her duties in a kind of fog. Everything was so familiar. So horribly familiar. The blood, the uniforms, Hot Lips’ commands, the doctors’ lewd comments. Kellye didn’t know when it had become familiar, but it definitely was. She could do this with her eyes closed, as the saying goes. Kellye was known for her bubbly personality; at least to those who took the time to get to know her. She felt that to most of her unit she was just another nurse. But she had a backbone, and had yelled at Hawkeye. And she had meant every word: she was talented in playing the ukulele and tap dancing, and she was cute as hell.
She went to bed every night dreaming of Hawaii and wishing she had a way of counting down the days until she would return. Tonight was no different, and since she was feeling a sick, she had gone to bed extra early. She was lying in bed, pretending to be asleep, when she overheard the other nurses come into the tent.
“Did you hear about the new doctor we’re getting?” one asked.
“I heard he’s a hunk.”
“I can’t wait to meet him.”
Kellye feel asleep that night, not thinking about Hawaii, but about the possibilities that might come with a new doctor.
