Okay - for this year I'm going to attempt to read 1 new book per week. And here's the list so far.

What a marvelous idea! I know it's already March, but I may start doing this, myself. I don't know if I'll be able to do one book a week. Maybe every two weeks would be more feasible for my schedule, but either way, I think it sounds terrific and I really want to do it. Thanks for inspiring! :)

P.S. Hope you don't mind me stopping by. I just saw your post over on that whedonesque thread about Firefly (the woman who posted what she called a 'radical feminist' perspective that was decidedly not, in my opinion). I thought it was great, you offering her that opportunity to discuss and debate further with you and your friends on your site. Somehow, unfortunately, I feel she won't be willing because it's easier for her to say what she pleases on her own site and dictate who gets to respond. Still, I salute your intelligent and reasonable approach. :D

Wasn't my idea - but it's always good to try new things, glad you're inspired.

As for the Firefly thing, she was painting the Jossverse so much darker than it actually is, and just taking things and not even looking for the real reasons behind them, it made me feel that someone had to stand up for Joss. As you said, I doubt she'll respond, but if it puts a more balanced view out there, I'm happy.

I've just added you as a friend - hope that's okay. I've read a lot of the books on our list so far, and enjoy reading your thoughts on them.

I also read the Radical Feminist thing (with some horror!), and really liked your rebuttal. It's a shame the suggested discussion didn't take place, as I'd have been very interested!
